Why write a blog when I should be writing my book?

I'm glad I asked that completely rhetorical question.

The simple reason is guilt.

By thinking about what to write here I will feel guilty for not actually writing my book. Therefore, so my thinking goes, the less I write here the more I should be writing in my book. This theory falls flat on its arse for many reasons; writers-block for one - but I'm sticking with it.

Also, I hope it will get the creative juices flowing, so maybe after writing a post here I can go back to my book and apply those juices to its pages.
